Namibia is renowned for its wide, open spaces and superb sunrises and sunsets. The timetable has been specifically designed to coincide with the sunrises and sunsets. Desert Express departs in the early afternoon on Fridays and Tuesdays from Windhoek Station and calls at the luxurious Okapuka Game Ranch, where passengers will witness lion feeds close-up.
Upon returning to the train, enjoy a sundowner in the relaxed atmosphere of the elegant Spitzkoppe lounge as you watch the sun set over the endless plains. Dinner will be served in our spacious Welwitschia restaurant as the train makes its onward journey to overnight at a quiet secure siding.
Early the next morning, Desert Express leaves the siding and continues on its westbound journey. The train will travel through the Namib Desert and finally behind the dunes between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, where it will stop for sixty minutes, to allow passengers to disembark and take a walk. The dunes are really unique! The train will then proceed on to its final destination, Swakopmund, arriving at approximately 10h00.

DAY 1 - MONDAY:
Departure at 09h00 from Windhoek station. Welcoming drink, lunch served from 12h30 - 14h00. Arrival at Omaruru station at 16h00 for a visit to the Kristal Kellerei, guided tour, wine tasting and snacks. Return to Desert Express at 18h30, three-course and overnight.
DAY 2 - TUESDAY:
Breakfast is served from 07h00 onwards. Arrival at Tsumeb station at 09h00. Transfer to Mokuti Lodge in buses. Lunch at Mokuti, afternoon at leisure. Visit Ontouka Reptile Park late afternoon. Buffet dinner or Boma. Overnight at Mokuti.
DAY 3 - WEDNESDAY:
Early morning breakfast, game drive into Etosha National Park at 07h30. Return to Mokuti Lodge at 11h30. Lunch and check out. At 15h00 depart for Tsumeb station. Departure from Tsumeb station at 16h30. Three course dinner and overnight.
DAY 4 - THURSDAY:
Breakfast from 07h00 and full day’s travelling, with lunch served from 12h00. Arrival in Windhoek station at 15h00.
